I woke up this morning and realized I had energy. I haven't felt this for years. I was able to clean the kitchen, clean up the back yard and did some laundry. My grandson came over and was here from 12 to 5 and I still had energy.
I called my nurse this morning and she asked how I was doing. She said "you feel like you have your kidney back."
Increasing my dialysis time has made all the difference. Its amazing. I'm excited and grateful. I've gone from 15 hours of treatment time to 30 hours. It really makes a difference.

Another Step Forward
I've been doing home dialysis for about four and 1/2 years now. I still remember my first month at home. I had gone through several weeks of training but when you suddenly find yourself alone it can be a lot overwhelming. I do my own lab draws and it is the only part of treatment at home I don't like. When I first started though it was much worse. I had called Fed Ex to schedule a pickup of the labs for seven one evening. I had drawn the labs, ran the through the centrifuge, but couldn't get my bleeding to stop. The doorbell rang and with blood stains on my arm and my fingers compressing the site I answered the door and found the Fed Ex man there. I said "Don't panic, I'm ok and could you please wait." He was very nice and sat and waited for me to finish. The next time he picked up the labs he smiled and said" you must be doing much better . . . no blood." :)
I'm on a training curve again. Now I'm starting to do my treatments at night while I sleep, or trying to sleep. So far I've done three treatments and find myself running a little out of steam for lack of sleep. Its getting better though.
My sweet, darling, grandson turns two this week. I can't believe its already that time. Friday was my last official daycare day with him. He starts daycare next week. I have such mixed feelings. On the one hand he is such a busy little guy and wears me out and on the other hand I'll miss him. Happy birthday little man.

Movie Night
Went to see Captain Phillips this afternoon with some good friends. Very intense movie and found I had a great desire to find a teddy bear to hold. Very intense and emotional movie.

A Day at the Arboretum
Went to the Arboretum this past Monday with my grandson and my daughter-in-law. (She and my son are divorced but to me, she's still my daughter-in-law). We had the best time and spent most of the day there.
There were pumpkin houses, and pumpkins everywhere.
large books,
Cinderella's magic coach,
Flowers everywhere and a little boy in his hands and knees in the dirt around them
Pumpkin houses

It was an amazing day. Next time we go we're hitting the play area first. The kid in me I guess. That's where all the fun is. Loved spending time with my grandson and his mom.

November 2013
Time flies way too fast. Its been an amazing month with lots of changes. My dear grandson is a toddler now and into everything.
We've been to the Heard museum this month and saw dinosaurs (animated too).
He wasn't quite sure what to think when he saw them though . . . .

Then we went to the Big Orange Pumpkin Patch and he loved it. He got to see lots of animals and pet them . . . he loved the goats . . .
We went for a hayride
Did a lot of running around and getting into things
Played in a hay maze
And got to choose his own pumpkin
And spent some good quality time with his Dad
It was great fun
Every day I am so grateful to be a Nana. :)
